May 31, 2020
Oyo State governor, Engineer Seyi Makinde, will on Monday (today) kickstart the distribution of Certificates of Occupancy (C of Os) to the first set of set of people under the Oyo Home Owners Charter (OYHOC), a statement by the Governor’s Media office has indicated.

The statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, indicated that the distribution of the Certificates of Occupancy to members of the public was part of the activities commemorating the governor’s first anniversary in office.

The statement read: “The governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde, will on Monday June 1, 2020 kickstart the distribution of the first set of Certificates of Occupancy to members of the public under the Oyo Home Owners Charter.
“This is in line with the Governor Makinde-led administration's promise to process Certificate of Occupancy within 60 days.”
The statement noted that the C of Os being issued under the OYHOC scheme has the same features as the conventional one, stating that the only difference is that it is meant for Landed Properties with buildings on them.

It further explained that the programme will take place at the Governor's Office with strict adherence to COVID- 19 protocols on social distancing and wearing of nose masks.
The statement also enjoined eligible property owners without title or approved documents to take advantage of the scheme and its window of opportunity.

“Persons with outstanding applications are advised to visit Room 4 of the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Secretariat, Ibadan or call 0700 696 52637 (0700 OYO LANDS) or send email to,” the statement read.

In another development, Governor Makinde has opened a feedback channel through which the people of the state can reach him within the next 14 days.

“His Excellency has authorised the opening of the call centre to receive feedback from the people, following the completion of his first year in office.
“Ten phone numbers made public in that respect include 08136203628;
08103956078; 08086546152; 08024794712; 07084121832; 08165824798; 09071805605; 09048496819; 09040167922; 07030453729.
The statement indicated that the lines will be available twenty-four hours every day of the week for the 14 days.

Mobile Police Squadron Base: Don’t Politicise Security Matters — Makinde’s Media Aide

May 31, 2020

The Chief Press Secretary to the governor of Oyo State, Engineer Seyi Makinde, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, has counselled stakeholders in the state to desist from politicising the location of the newly inaugurated Police Mobile Force 72 Squadron base in Ago-Are, in Oke-Ogun axis of the state.
A statement by the governor’s media aide made available to newsmen indicated that he equally denied reports that the Mobile Police base was relocated by Governor Makinde from Oyo town to Ago-Are, adding that such allegations were unfounded, false and a misrepresentation of the true situation.
The statement read: “Contrary to the wrong impression being portrayed in the social media and on radio, Governor Seyi Makinde had secured the nod of the Inspector General of Police, Muhammed Adamu, for the location of a Mobile Police Squadron base in Oke-Ogun axis of Oyo State in August 2019.
“The governor made a direct request for the approval of the Mobile Base, in view of the determination of his administration to make agribusiness a major ladder to grow the state’s economy.
“You will recall that on September 1, 2019, the South-West Governors held a security summit in Ibadan, which was attended by the Inspector General of Police.
“Governor Makinde, had, on that occasion thanked the IGP for approving a Mobile Squadron base for Oke-Ogun, which he said would enhance food security and the help the state’s desire to rally agriculture to jumpstart its economy.
“It is instructive to note that the letter being paraded on social media made no reference to Governor Makinde and was neither copied to the governor.
“It needs to be placed on record that there is no truth in the social media allegation that Oyo town was short-changed by the decision to locate the base of PMF 72 Squadron in Ago-Are.
“There is also no need to politicise a security matter, because operational bases of security agencies are not always determined with political indication as reference points. Such decisions are often based on logistic realities and operational convenience.
“There is no ambiguity as to the decision of the state government to cite the base of PMF 72 in Ago-Are because the location is central in Oke-Ogun, has a ready-made site for temporary operations and equally has a space for permanent site, which has been acquired for the use of the state government since the Second Republic.
“Let me state clearly that the letter being paraded and the police signal dated February 2020 have nothing to do with the Ago-Are Mobile Police base.
“The state government would readily welcome it if the Federal Government decides to establish another Mobile Police base in Oyo town or any other town in Oyo State, after all, the size of the state can accommodate four or more Mobile Police bases.”

May 31, 2020

The Oyo State Government has vehemently warned the chairman Park Management Disciplinary Committee, Alhaji Lamidi Mukaila popularly called Auxiliary to call members of the PMS to order or risked being fired.

The warning was issued this Sunday by the Commissioner for Works, Infrastructure and Transport, Prof.Raphael Afonja who was a guest on Fresh FM programme, “Cross Fire.”

While reacting to complaints from members of the public who alleged that the Park Managers do harass and humiliate motorists and Okada riders over levies imposed on them, Afonja said, “no one is indispensable, I want to specifically warn Auxiliary to as a matter of fact, check the excesses of his members or get fired, we won’t hesitate to bring other people on board.” Afonja concludes.

Children's Day: Oyo Pdp Celebrates Children, Says Makinde Has Done And Will Do More In Education

May 27, 2020

The ruling party in Oyo state, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has celebrated children in Oyo state on the occasion of year 2020 children's day which is also celebrated world over as declared by the United Nations International Children Education Fund.

The party explained that children are the heritage of any parent, stressing that the best legacy that could ever be bequeathed to children is sound and quality education which the Seyi Makinde led government has clearly shown the capacity and political will by its commitment to achieve.

Oyo state chapter of the PDP in a press statement signed by its state publicity secretary, Engr Akeem Olatunji, and made available to pressmen on Wednesday (today) declared that it is not the physical assets that most parents tend to chase after that guarantee an enduring legacy after them but a sound and quality education given the children.

According to the statement, education is indispensably one of governor Seyi Makinde's administration core priorities adding that the last time Oyo state ever had it this good in term of education development and systemic restructuring were during the time of late Chief Bola Ige and former governor Adewolu Ladoja.

Engr Olatunji, according to the statement emphasised the importance of education with regards to economic development and growth in any society stressing that no nation made it to economic prosperity without huge and consistent investment in the education system.

The ruling party particularly lauded governor Makinde's giant strides and unwavering commitment to advancement of quality education in the state noting that the strategic approach of making formal education very attractive and interesting in the state by the state government was very commendable stressing that the immediate impact of such policy was the increase in public school enrollment by children as well as migration from private schools to public schools.

Engr Olatunji affirmed that it takes a leader with strong political will and genuine commitment to achieve such feat in education of any state considering the fact that education is an intangible assets that people could see like roads and physical infrastructures.

PDP particularly described governor Makinde as the game changer, the party also urged parents to continue to give maximum support to the state government in its drive to take education in the state to an enviable height such that others will clamour to domesticate its template in their various states.

The ruling party said that the global pandemic has made this year's edition of children's day celebration less glamorous but insisted that the annual celebration was merely a commemorative event stressing that the quality of education provided by government was what matters most.

The party therefore, urged education stakeholders, operators, teachers, and parents in the state to as a matter of collaborative efforts align fully with the state government education policy to avoid working at cross purpose adding that government has and will continue to invest heavily in education in the state because it is an area of top priority.

Re: Seyi Makinde Projects’ Commission In 365days And State Affairs | Olawale Muideen Aremu

May 27, 2020

Quite frankly, banters have thrown by many folks from different walks of life with particular reference to the disillusioned members of the opposition party. This pull him down mantra on the part of the opposition and enemies of modern day governance is nothing but an attempt to smear the soaring good image of the beloved masses choice and unprecedented steady achivements of GSM.

Tons of illicit posts have had themselves littered on the global media cum new information vendors ranging from Facebook, Whatsapp loops, Twitter, Youtube among other social media platforms traceable to bootlickers of the past administration, without mincing words, era of fake news has gone. Thus, those of you peddling confusing stories should desist as the electorates are happy with the chosen one called “GSM”

Having assumed office in May 29, 2019, after overwhelmingly crushed his closest rival in the polls with over 150,000 excess votes, to put precisely as used by Dr Azeez Adedutan (an APC chieftain), the war-ridden and  belligerent opposition members have embarked on crass campaign of calumny while reeling from the massive support His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde (GSM) acquired from the populace.

This is not infer that this government is not infallible of criticism, indeed, it is the pinnacle of democracy to expressly speak out against anomalies and inadequacies in governance. However, the beauty of opposition in democracy is criticism which should be ordinate and constructive.

Having said, wherever and whenever this government is found wanting of morality and rule of law, I will not hesitate to sanction her shortcomings and whip for correctional motive. As entrenched in the Constitution of Federal Republic of Nigeria, one is entitled to his opinion (freedom of speech) albeit with limitations to law of slander, libel and sedition. I am glad to put this piece together especially with the unimaginable actions of GSM based on his public assets declaration, assenting to financial improprieties bill, meaning that it is business unusual from the God fearing chief executive officer of the pacesetter state.

Let us take in piecemeal, some of the activities of the government in the last eleven months;

• On Security, Governor Seyi Makinde, (GSM) has solidified the security apparatus in the state having procured ultramodern patrol vehicles to the Nigerian Police in the state and rebranded the existing “Operation Burst” inherited from the previous administration with the state of art facilities. This implies that Governor Seyi Makinde is a peace loving state manager who values lives and properties of the citizens and has remained a calm personality even before he was elected as the governor of the state, despite the series of attacks on his supporters and billboards by opposition members during electioneering. Aside that, GSM led-government launched a toll-free call service of 615 for citizens to report security issues/challenges in case of any. It is important to note the “Amotekun Security Architecture” in collaboration with other southwest governors in a bid to curb societal upheavals.

• On education, GSM usual opines that he generously benefitted from free education of the founding fathers of democracy, thus, to whom much is given much is equally expected. To him, readers are learners and no child should be deprived of the compulsory secondary education. To start with, proscription of #3000 heart soaking school fees. The recent figures and indices are already exposing the rot in our system as left by the erstwhile government. It is quite unfortunate that efforts of the past government were mere lip service; GSM rather than toeing that line, sees improving the sector by investing heavily in it. The government provided over 100,000 copies of examination compendium to students in public secondary schools in state.
It is equally worthwhile to remind the noisemakers and naysayers how the government organized extramural classes for students in public secondary schools in addition to huge investment in the education sector. Higher institutions in the state also benefitted from GSM magnanimity. Perennial challenges of Ladoke Akintola University (LAUTECH) has been cushioned, The Polytechnic of Ibadan and The Ibarapa Polytechnic with persistent accreditation problems have been sorted, Colleges of Education and Agriculture in Oyo, Lanlate and Igboora have been revitalized and students/lecturers have been enjoyed uninterrupted academic session save for global issue of CONVID 19 pandemic.
Within his 100 days in office, he commissioned Six (6) Model Schools, executed under the Universal Basic Education Commission-FG/Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board intervention Projects across the three senatorial districts of Oyo State.

• The re-awarding of Iseyin-Moniya road as we all know was due to the bloated contractual agreement between the previous government and the contract. Yet, the contractor thought it was business as usual by neglecting the road construction. If anyone has visited the site in recent time, you will see the change in the construction within seven months. The beauty of this award of contract is that it is indigenously contracted for the benefits of the Oyo State citizens.

• At twilight of Ajimobi-led administration, the figures from both Debt Management Office and National Bureau of Statistics, as of March 31, 2019, Oyo State’s total debt stood at over #126 billion. This is a huge debt profile, however, the current administration is assiduously working hard to reduce it as well as provide infrastructure development. The recently approved loan of #20 billion by the Oyo State House of Assembly has started generating unnecessary controversies when we clamouring for infrastructural facelift. Why are these belligerent opposition members so petty?

• In recent months, GSM has also approved eight (8) road projects for immediate rehabilitation and reconstruction in Oyo State which is due for commissioning as soon as possible.

• Acquisition of new vehicles for OYRTMA and approval of responsibilities allowance for OYRTMA officers.

• Within the short period in office, the government has also launched free medical mission for all citizens of the state.

• Boosting agriculture and food security in the state through partnership with Farmcrowdy, a leading Agritech company in Nigeria. Farm settlements to boost agriculture have flagged off and initiated to make the state the food basket of the nation with endowed arable land and human resources.

• On July 12, 2019 the governor also commissioned the renovated and equipped operating theatre, radiography unit and medical laboratory in the Adeoyo State Hospital. This move is in addition to the free healthcare declaration by the government shortly after assuming office.

• On COVID-19, Oyo State citizens both home and in the Diaspora understand how huge the deadly virus has crippled the world economy, thus, he has set Olodo Infectious Disease Center with state of the art facilities, Agbami health center was earmarked, University College Hospital has collaboration in the treatment of this viral disease. Setting of CONVID 19 task force with bunches of erudite healthcare experts. You do not need to panic with the recent soaring number of CONVID 19 cases declared by NCDC as mass testing is being conducted while a particular organization housed most of these numbers. Let me quickly say this, total lockdown is not feasible in our country at large while the practicable measures are: frequent washing of hands, proper hygiene, hand sanitizing, use of facemask, maintaining physical distancing, fumigation of public places, locking of non-essential centers among others.
As you can see, the template initiated by GSM was eventually adopted by the federal government herself.

• In the past few days, the state has also scaled up its efforts in testing more people through the “Drive-Through/Walk-Through Testing initiative which was supported by Citizens for Citizens and LifeBank Nigeria with the provision of the 2000 testing kits.

The rapid testing initiative and the test centre located inside Adamasingba Stadium in Ibadan, which was launched over few days ago, has helped in attending to many people with symptoms similar to that of COVID-19.

• Similarly, the state government through the COVID-19 taskforce has made available over 610 personal protective equipment (PPE), a move that is widely lauded by health professionals that are leading the fight against the disease in the state. While all these efforts are on, the government has affirmed that she’s partnering with University College Hospital Authorities in the fight against the disease.

Well, these are just few master moves the government has made in recent months. That the government has refused to travel the path of previous governments by using state-owned funds to advertise government’s achievements does not mean there are no achievements to count for the governor during his one-year in office anniversary. Finally, government is continuum thus, uncompleted and abandoned projects of the previous government were not jettisoned but rather absorbed and continued to save the coffers of the state.

While swearing oaths of allegiance, GSM has at least four (4) statutory years to turnaround the state to her pacesetting enviable status. If this assertion is true, then why the fuss about commissioning of projects when everything is work in progress.

On behalf of the PDP media team, I submit that, the roadmap of accelerated development charted by His Excellency, Governor Seyi Makinde is not only feasible but achievable.

Thanks and warm regards! Blessed be Oyo State of Nigeria.

Hostilities In Presidency: Buhari’s FEC Has Become Cancerous, Should be Disbanded | Southwest-frontier News

May 26, 2020
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) says the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Executive Council (FEC) has become cancerous, disorganized, chaotic, and incapable of driving an organized, result-oriented system and as such should be disbanded.

The party’s position is predicated on the degenerated hostilities among officials in the Buhari Presidency, including Presidential aides, ministers and heads of agencies, which have further exposed a scandalous breakdown of the administration's central command system.

Our party asserts that this situation is a mark of failure by the Buhari Presidency and the All Progressives Congress (APC) to provide organized leadership for our nation.
The PDP said a situation where officials are constantly at daggers drawn among themselves in unending clashes, backbiting, betrayals, leakage of sensitive documents and internal bickering over pecuniary and political interests, in manners not different from street skirmishes of common cult groups, is unacceptable to our nation.

It is indeed shocking that the acrimony had sunk to a situation where the Minister of Communication and Digital Economy, Isa Pantami, reportedly evicted the staff of the Nigerians in Diaspora Commission (NIDCOM) from their allocated office, with guns, while the Chairman of the Commission, Hon. Abike Dabiri, was on official assignment with the President.

Currently, the newly appointed Chief of Staff to the President, Prof. Ibrahim Gambari and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, are said to be at each other’s throat, with the SGF reportedly querying the decision of the President to sack the former Director of the Transmission Company of Nigeria, Mr. Usman Mohammed.  The situation had degenerated into serious confusion in the federal executive.

Nigerians can recall the bitter wrangling, wherein the National Security Adviser (NSA), Maj. Gen Babagana Monguno, earlier this year, alerted that Presidential responsibilities, including presiding over sensitive security matters, have been hijacked by late Chief of Staff, Mallam Abba Kyari, thereby frustrating the fight against insurgency and acts of violence ravaging our country.

Furthermore, the power sector is still under the stress of squabbling between the SGF and the Minister of Power, Sale Mamman, with the SGF, reinstating some officials who were sacked by the minister in December last year.

The nation has also not forgotten the embarrassing public fight between the First Lady, Aisha Buhari and President Muhammadu Buhari’s cousins, over rooms in the Presidential villa, which further exposed the chaotic situation in the President Buhari-led administration.

Before then, the First Lady had alerted the nation that a cabal had hijacked the federal executive and taken over governance of our nation.

It is sad that presidential hostilities had resulted in escalated cases of internal sabotage including the leakage of sensitive documents as exposed by the Head of Service, Dr. Folasade Yemi-Esan and recently witnessed in the embarrassing leakage of President Buhari’s draft COVID-19 speech.

Nigerians can now see how vulnerable our nation has become and why it is extremely difficult for our country to witness any progress under the Buhari Presidency, which has also ruined all the gains achieved under the PDP.

Indeed, no nation can achieve meaningful development under a rancorous and shambolic federal executive council as currently constituted, with the height of  irredeemable division among them.

Such a situation never obtained under the watch of the PDP in the glorious years of our nation.

Our party therefore counsels President Buhari to re-direct the course of our Nation's tides by disbanding his poorly assembled and dysfunctional federal executive council.

He should foreclose the parochial posturing of his administration by engaging more competent hands to run the affairs of our nation.

Despite the socio-economic problems that has made the intellectual community not-so-conducive in Nigeria, various researchers and analysts have gone the extra mile to find a lasting solution to the crippled economic sector of Nigeria the poverty capital of the world.

One of such individuals, who have consistently taken efforts to lead the development of the economic sector in the country, using his unique understanding of the sustainable development goals, in areas ranging from sciences and business to SMEs and microfinance is Segun Iroko. OYOINSIGHT.COM’s Managing Editor, Adebayo Abdulrahman spotlights him.

Born on the 3rd of November, 1972, his educational voyage from Igbeti to Espam drilled him with the required knowledge for a purposeful career. In 1991, he bagged his West African School Certificate from the United Missionary Church of Africa Secondary School Igbeti Oyo State. From there, he attended the Kwara State polytechnic, Ilorin where graduated with an Higher Ntional Diploma in 2001.

He bagged his post graduate Diploma and Masters Degree from the Ladoke Akintola University of Technology, LAUTECH, in 2009 and 2011 respectively. He then proceeded to the Espam Formation University Zone Dambassade, Cotonou, where he bagged his PhD. In 2018.

Between March and April 2018, Segun worked as an agriculture consultant on the Nigeria Economic and Recovery Growth Plan focus laboratory project for 2017-2020.

This laboratory was designed to fast track achievements of set objectives in the ERGP plan by providing a forum of engagement between private sector investors and public-sector officials and its main objective was to unlock stranded capital for economic stimulation; given the realization that investors capital is often tied down due to government bureaucracies and regulatory issues.

However, during the presentation at the ERGP focus lab; Segun, based on the potential in his business and SME presentation to have a lot of impact in business sustainable development in Nigeria and the world at large, earned himself a 5 star which is the highest grade in the system.

‘Cassava Alone Can Fund Nigeria’s Budget’

While working as a technical consultant for Nigeria Cassava Growers Association (NCGA), on the development of cassava value chain with full backward integration, Segun and his team carried out a development research and discovered about 21 output products from cassava that can turn around the fortunes of the farmers and Nigeria at large.

He then helped established a cassava ethanol processing factory in Ogbomosho that has the capacity to produce 1000 liters of ethanol per day as a pilot scheme for the outcome of their research. He discovered that if Nigeria can invest on 4Million hectares of cassava farm and set up processing plant of various products and capacities in different zones, the output, can to large extent, fund the countrys Budget.

For the past nine years, Segun has served as a judge to select the best and most innovative champion for the ENACTUS world cup across the world.

ENACTUS is the world largest experiential learning platform dedicated to creating a better world while developing the next generation of entrepreneurial leaders and social innovators.

The Enactus network of global business, academic and student leaders are unified by our vision to create a better, more sustainable world. An annual series of regional and national competitions showcases Enactus teams impact, evaluated by global business leaders.

To Segun, for Nigeria to ensure that by 2050, over 200 million Nigerians will not wallop in abject poverty, seeking answers to this question must be a key catalyst that informs policy and projects planning and implementation for the country, because, This calls not only for collaboration between public and private sectors but also for strong human resource input especially at leadership levels of society.

Seyi Makinde: One Year of Sustainable Developmental Projects and Matters Arising | Afolabi Akinfenwa

Seyi Makinde: One Year Of Sustainable Developmental Projects And Matters Arising | Afolabi Akinfenwa

May 26, 2020

It is twelve months into the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, the political capital of Southwest, Nigeria. With all the natural endowments in terms of land, amenable climate and human resources for agriculture and solid minerals development; Oyo State has what it takes to be an agricultural and economic powerhouse of the Southwest. Governor Seyi Makinde has taken appropriate steps to harness this natural advantages. The Oyo State Agribusiness Agency establishment is a testimony to this fact; farm settlements are being upgraded into farm estates. But some people for their own selfish reasons, feel that the Seyi Makinde led administration is not doing well in terms of good governance and socio-economic growth and development.

Engineer Seyi Makinde, a business mogul, who is the 9th democratically elected Governor in the state is focussed and not dettered! Gov Seyi Makinde, after taking the oath of office assured the people of the state that his government would focus on making life easy for the people and that he would make education a priority by declaring free education from primary to secondary for the residents of Oyo State. He stated emphatically that he would create jobs through Agricultural Investments and provide security for lives and properties.

No doubt, the government in the last twelve months has been able to make scores of considerable successes. The government came into power when the economy of the country . Where allocation coming to the state from the federal government purse was not enough to meet the financial obligations of the state government.

Seyi Makinde's government inherited over six months arrears owed to the pensioners as well as some ministries in the state by the immediate past government

In an ideal society, prompt payment of workers’ salaries and pensioners arrears should not be celebrated by any government as achievement; it will not be out of place to mention that the government stood her ground and payed up to date in the face of economic crises in the country.

The government in one year in office started and completed some roads across the state, bridges/culverts with roads already completed include; Alaro 7up in Oluyole Estate, Ogbere Moradeyo, Oki-Oke Ayo, Alaro Poly along Eleyele Road, Isokun behind Odogbo Barracks, Ebenezery along Isebo-Iyana Church Road, Maje behind Soka Area
Two others behind Agbala Itura tuntun are about being ashphalted: Omiri, Olorungunwa,

Others at advance stage and should be completed this month include: Elere, Foworogi, Abonde, Believers
 among others.

This is on development of critical Infrastructures alone!
On the issue of education, health care delivery and agricultural development, Gov Seyi Makinde has also been outstanding. He abrogated the payment of N3,000 per term by the pupils and students of Oyo State, making education truely free. Furthermore, GSM is planning to employ more hands into the teaching service of the state. Quality health delivery is also a priority as the primary health care delivery centres in the state are being activated.

Governor Seyi Makinde's One Year in Office Series 2: Security as a Case Study | Southwest-frontier News

By Michael Ogunsina

May 25, 2020
In continuation of what we started yesterday, let's look at Security today.

Let's sincerely see what the Seyi Makinde led administration has achieved in terms of security.

Engr. Seyi Makinde inherited a security structure that was good but not thorough

There were few cracks and defect in the security architecture of the state, some boys that had been arrested for crimes and remanded or even jailed were released into the society for electoral purposes.

The initially good security policies of the past administration was vehemently compromised during political campaigns and electioneering process and on many occasions, different kinds of violence, ritual killings (We didn't hear the full story of the Soka dungeon till they left) and kidnapping were recorded in some very strategic parts of the state.

The bloody assassination of a state house of assembly member by assassins who have not been brought to book as at this day, the unending kidnappings of innocent citizens especially in Ibarapa axis, the incessant crises and violence in areas like Idi-Arere, Bon Photo, Isale Osi, the grouping, formation and enlargement of criminal gangs like 1 millions boys, Network Boys, Kuwait Boys and so many notorius groups that terrorised Ibadan since the regime of the past administration are clear signs that there is more to be done  in the security arrangement of the state

The fight against insecurity began very well but in the actual sense, it seems there was no strong sustainable system. This is because security planning requires foresight, intensity, focus, strategy and tactic.

The past administration in collaboration with other security agencies in the state rebranded and remodeled security operations like Operation Burst which was a good idea only that until the coming of Governor Seyi Makinde, Operation Burst was not fully equipped with modern apparatus and facilities to make their work easy and effective.

Governor Seyi Makinde upon assumption of office showed that He came prepared, deliberate and ready to tackle the security challenges head on.

One of his first decisions was to proscribe the activities of the transport union whose actions were becoming notorious and inimical to the peace Seyi Makinde promised the residents and indigenes of Oyo State and till date, the status quo has remained.

Within Governor Seyi Makinde's first 100 days as the governor, He approved the purchase of 100 Kia Rio Auto Transmission Vehicle fitted with modern and sophisticated security gadgets for security operatives across the state (Including Operation Burst).

Governor Seyi Makinde also launched a toll free 24/7 emergency Security line (615).

Governor Seyi Makinde actually identified dark spots and major highways in Oyo State and made sure they are illuminated. The project is already at the second phase!

The security lights at this strategic and major areas has made the crime perpetration almost impossible in Oyo State

The sincere, critical and objective review of the security architecture of the last administration and improving on it is worthy of mention. The Oyo State Security Trust Fund is no longer a political machinery.

The good security ideas that were difficult to implement in the past administration for reasons best known to them has been implemented and are been implemented by the Seyi Makinde led administration.
The South Western Region recorded a lot of negative security issues towards the end of 2019 and Early 2020. The insecurity that has permeated some parts of the country was wiggling it tail at the south western region of Nigeria  and Engr. Seyi Makinde hosted the Governors of Osun, Ogun, Lagos, Ekiti and Ondo States of Nigeria in a nationally publicised security summit in Ibadan, the Oyo State Capital and aftermath of that event, the Western Nigeria Security Network code named Amotekun was birthed.

In his efforts to walk the talk and genuinely protect the people of Oyo State in rural areas, farms, inter state borders and access roads and the generality of the populace, Governor Seyi Makinde bought modern security pick up vehicles also fitted them with modern security gadgets.
Governor Seyi Makinde in unity of faith with the state house of assembly passed the Amotekun bill into Law and today, the terrorists on our territories are being terrified.

The track records and antecedents of the men Governor Seyi Makinde chose to lead the Amotekun cops has been described in many platforms as the best and the most strategic security strategy for the state in recent times

It's not difficult to know a man that's ready to work. Governor Seyi Makinde also brought in the former commissioner of Police in Lagos and Benue states, the man who is one of the most respected former commissioner of Police with a lot of continental and intercontinental credits as his Chief Security Adviser, ComPol Fatai Owoseni who has been doing fantastically well.

We have recorded a sharp and drastic decrease in crime rate in Oyo states because of the intelligent approach of Mr. Governor towards the security of the state and I know the security agencies are not relaxing neither is the Governing slowing down.

Consistent overpowering and defeat of established crime gangs in Oyo State is showing that the efforts of the Seyi Makinde led administration is yielding good results.

I should not end without saying the recent national security issue we have in the country as a result of the COVID-19 lockdown has been well handled by the Oyo state command of the Nigerian Police Force and other collaborating security agencies. We know that they will still do more in protecting Oyo citizens.

Engr. Seyi Makinde is not playing politics with the lives of any Oyo State Citizens.

The achievement of Mr. Governor in the last one year in the area of security is monumental and unprecedented and He deserves a huge pass mark in that sector.

I like to hear your views and contributions and if you like this, please share.

Ramadan: Oyo Pdp Felicitates With Muslims, Urges Makinde To Ignore Needless Distraction From Critics

May 24, 2020

The Oyo state chapter of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has felicitated with Muslims across the world particularly in Oyo state on the occasion of 1441 Ramadan and appealed to residents not to deviate from the path of the teachings and lessons of the season after celebration.

The Oyo State PDP Chairman, Alh Kunmi Mustapha, the State Secretary, Alh Wasiu Adeleke, and the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Engr Akeem Olatunji, in a press statement co-signed and made available to journalists on Saturday, stated that Muslims should not just see Ramadan as an annual religious exercise but a spiritual engagement aimed at strengthening human relationship with God as well as the society.

According to the statement, the ruling party emphasized on the need to improving interfaith relations in order to promote societal cohesion which will lead to systemic growth in many positive ways.

PDP in Oyo state, stressed that Ramadan as an annual religious exercise will always come and go but the impact of the teachings during Ramadan is what determines an improved inter religious relationship among the people since Nigeria operates a secular state.

The party said that it was laying emphasis on the need for an improved inter religious relationship because it is one key area Nigerian politicians specialized in deploying divisive mechanisms as a political tool aimed at gaining political advantages.

PDP in Oyo state called on all residents regardless of political or religious inclinations to continue to support the government of Oyo state under the leadership of governor Seyi Makinde, stressing that the passion, dedication, and commitment of governor Makinde towards restoring the pacesetter's glory is unwavering.

The party said that such unwavering commitment by the governor is practically evident in the prompt payment of workers salaries on or before 25th of every month.

"Even though some critics and sadists may want to posit that prompt payment of salaries was not an achievement of government, we would like to emphasize that as hard as they tried to downplay efforts of Makinde led government, the people, particularly state and local government workers who have tasted what it feels like to work so hard and not get paid for several months every fiscal year as it was in the last eight years and to now enjoy improved uninterrupted monthly salaries, appreciate governor Makinde's commitment to service." The party said.

Oyo state PDP however, reaffirmed its pride in the bold and giant strides taken by the governor in economic development through Agribusiness, improved healthcare and social security, capital investments in critical infrastructure, as well improved and sustainable sound educational policies in the state.

The party described governor Makinde as an answer to special prayers adding that Oyo state has never had it this good in terms of focused policy direction and sound implementation of economic blueprint.

The party urged governor Makinde to avoid needless distractions emanating from the noise of his detractors stressing that the positive feedback from the residents in Oyo state was an attestation of governor Makinde's great works and excellent performance.
