We Will Recover Oyo's Money From Contractors Who Failed To Deliver - Makinde | Southwest-frontier News

WE WILL RECOVER OYO'S MONEY FROM CONTRACTORS WHO FAILED TO DELIVER - MAKINDE

...As He Inspects Newly-renovated Jericho Nursing Home

April 30, 2021
Oyo State Governor, 'Seyi Makinde, said, on Friday, that his administration will recover every Kobo of Oyo State's money in the hands of contractors who failed to deliver on projects.

The governor gave the assurance during an inspection tour of the newly renovated Jericho Nursing Home, Jericho,  Ibadan.
He said that he will never allow any fund belonging to Oyo State to be frittered away, adding that he will go after contractors who failed to deliver on assigned projects.
A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, quoted the governor as saying that
his administration will ensure the people of the state get the desired value for their money.

The governor stated that the previous contractor handling the project did not complete the work, a development, which, he said, was “unacceptable by this administration.”

He said: “Every kobo of Oyo State money that people have taken without delivering value to the people, they will give it back to us."
Makinde, however, maintained that he is satisfied with the level of on-going renovation work at the hospital by the present administration.

The governor further said: "Well, for the ones that we did, yes I am satisfied. But the previous contractor, we can all see, did not finish the work. We went round to look at the transformer but it is not yet energised and it is just really unacceptable. People may think we are not going to go after them but I can give you the assurance that we will."

The governor explained that the purpose of the inspection was to examine the renovation work at the hospital and to see some of the challenges being faced by the staff of the hospital.
"Basically, I am here to see the renovation work that has gone on in here and also listen to them about the challenges they are having. As you probably must have known, health is one of the major pillars of this administration.

"So, we have to keep working to ensure that the health care in Oyo State is well delivered,” Makinde stated.

Security: Makinde To Engage Man O’ War Nigeria To Secure Primary, Secondary Schools In Oyo State | Southwest-frontier News

OYO TO ENGAGE MAN O’ WAR NIGERIA TO SECURE PRIMARY, SECONDARY SCHOOLS IN THE STATE

….donate utility vehicles to organisation

April 30, 2021
Oyo State Governor, ‘Seyi Makinde, said on Thursday that his administration plans to engage officers of the Man O’ War Nigeria to assist in providing security and surveillance for primary and secondary schools in the state.

The governor, who made this known when he received the national executives of the Man O’ War Nigeria on a courtesy visit to his office, explained that the recent trend of the kidnapping of students, among other security challenges, has become worrisome.

A statement by the Chief Press Secretary to the governor, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, quoted the governor as urging the organisation to double its efforts at the grassroots in order to be able to contribute its quota to stemming the tide of insecurity in the country.
The governor said: "Man O’ War, as an organisation, I know is trying its best. I can testify to the role Man O’ War played during the elections that I participated in as governorship candidate in 2015 and 2019. So, I will renew my commitment in Man O’ War.
"Yes, the nation is faced with insecurity challenges right now all over the place. We have insurgency in the North-East, banditry in the North-West. We have herders/farmers clash in the North-Central zone of the country. And we thought those were far, remote, but now, they are at our door step. "Here also in Oyo State, we have been dealing with kidnapping, farmers/herders clashes and people have suddenly become temperamental.
"Before now, if you were walking on the street, you would see some issues arise and people would settle them amicably. But now, they will almost kill one another. So, this is a period that Man O’ War will need to double its efforts and look at programmes at the grassroots level where we can project more on the issue of citizenship and leadership for our country.
"In schools, we have discussed with the Honourable Commissioner for Education before now on the issue of security. Some of the schools are not properly fenced; hoodlums hibernate in schools.
“I know they have put together a proposal on fencing and having demarcations for all of the schools but this idea of deployment of Man O' War for security and surveillance is a welcome idea. We will look at the proposal and we should be engaging either the national or state Command Team to ensure that this can see the light of day and I think it is something that we will do."

The governor assured the Man O' War that he  will resume his sponsorship of the organisation in his personal capacity.
He said : "I will resume the sponsorship and I am doing this in my personal capacity such that when I am no longer the governor, I will continue to do it.”
The governor also used the occasion to donate two utility vehicles to the Oyo State Command and one to the National Command of the organisation, saying: "Today, Oyo State will donate two utility vehicles to the Man O’ War, Oyo State Command and one to the National Command. "Also, on the request for allocation of the former abandoned FRSC office, I don't know the state of the facility but we have to talk to the Commissioner for Lands, Housing and Urban Development. Let me also assure you that Oyo State will look for a suitable place that we can allocate to Oyo State Man O' War.
"And in terms of the sponsorship of Man O' War National Camp in August, we will support you both from the government side and privately. I will always be proud of the uniform of the Man O' War. So, I want to use this opportunity to appreciate you for your support and professionalism. During the 2019 election, you played a stabilising role. You were out there to complement the efforts of other security agencies."

The governor further explained that the paramilitary organisation has evolved over the years to provide link between citizenship engagement and leadership, adding that with the increasing concern over insecurity, the organisation has to do more in complementing other security agencies.
Governor Makinde also promised to grant some request made by the paramilitary outfit to improve the functionality of members in the state and the nation, while pledging a renewed commitment to the organisation as a former member and a patron.

Earlier, the deputy national commandant of Man O’ War, Gbenga Adedamola, called for the re-awakening of the culture of joining voluntary organisations like the Man O’ War among Nigerian youths to build the spirit of patriotism.

While making a request for assistance from the governor to make the organisation function better, the deputy national commandant stressed that the passion and commitment of the governor for youth development remained commendable.

There Must Be Justice, Fairness & Equity For A United Nigeria - Senator Kola Balogun | Southwest-frontier News

JUSTICE, FAIRNESS, EQUITY INEVITABLE FOR A UNITED NIGERIA - SENATOR BALOGUN

April 29, 2021
For Nigeria to remain a united entity and attain its potential there must be justice, fairness and equity through fiscal federalism, devolution of power, resource control among others.

This was the submission of the senator for Oyo South senatorial district, Senator Kola Balogun while fielding questions from journalists in a radio interview programme monitored in Ibadan.

Senator Balogun averred that Nigeria is a viable country which has the critical elements of strength of nationhood such as population, landmass, resources and military might, adding that restructuring the country for proper management of the nation's diversity would bring change to the present state of affairs which had left most  Nigerians in a state of frustration and confusion .

The lawmaker observed that the reality of the 2023 general election is premised on an atmosphere of peace and tranquility while noting that the senate is playing its part to ensure that the country overcomes its present security challenge and working assiduously to amend the electoral act before 2023 in order to tidy up the electoral process and give Nigerians a free, fair and credible election.

While expressing confidence in the ability of the Nigerian Army to protect the nation's territorial integrity, the lawmaker recommended that the army should be strengthened for better performance by being well equipped, well trained and motivated, he is however doubtful of the ability of the Nigerian Police as it is presently constituted with less than 200,000 personnel to effectively police about 300
million Nigerians.

He therefore advocated the decentralisation of the Nigeria Police into state and community police which he believes would go a long way in  bringing lasting solution to the issue of insecurity in the country.

Senator Balogun who frowned on the alleged printing of money by the Federal Government, maintained that it is not the best way to go given the resultant high inflationary trend.

Speaking on Isa Pantami's connection with Al-Qaeda, he said Nigerians are the employers of public office holders and have the right to demand the sack of anyone of them found wanting, stressing that in view of the monstrous security challenge facing the country, the public outcry against his continued retention in government by Nigerians and the infiltration of the rank and file of the army which he is privileged to know as a member of the Senate committee on army , government ought to  have relieved him of his ministerial position if he didn't have the civility to resign.

He commended the South West governors for their principled stand on Amotekun, maintaining that the security situation could have been worse in the area without the security outfit.

Reacting to the state government's plan to convert the staff quarters of the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State to a residential estate, he said even though he didn't have the facts about the issue, he was convinced that the pro-people Seyi Makinde-led government would not do anything which is not in the best interest of the people.

He said Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has not only brought to governance what was hitherto missing, he has been able to do many things which his predecessor couldn't  do such as regular payment of salary and pension as well as the reduction of corruption and blockage of leakages in government coffers.

He listed the bills he had sponsored on the floor of the Senate to include: Bill for an Act to amend the Health Act 2014, Bill to upgrade Ibadan airport to international standard, Bill for an Act to amend the EFCC Act among others

His other achievements include  facilitation of vocational trainings on agriculture, film making as well as different categories of grants and survival funds for the jobless, artisans and traders, the latest being 1,000 traders drawn from almost all major markets in his district.

Others include installation of transformers in 12 communities, provision of boreholes in 3 communities, installation of solar street light in other areas, provision of dedicated power line to the University of Ibadan while that of UCH is underway, construction of BCJ road in Ibadan and Odo Ona road in Ibarapa aside from the community social responsibility to hundreds of members of the senatorial district who regularly throng his residence.

Apete, Akufo, Ajibode And Environs Will Get Better Power Supply - Sen Kola Balogun | Southwest-frontier News

APETE, AKUFO, AJIBODE AND ENVIRONS WILL GET BETTER POWER SUPPLY

April 29, 2021

The Senator representing Oyo South District in the 9th national Assembly, Dr Mohammed Kola Balogun has again assured his constituents, particularly the residents of Apete, Awotan, Akufo, Ajibode and environs that they will soon have improved power supplies because he has written to the Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) about their plights and would follow it up.

In a press release by his Special Adviser on Media, the Senator said this in response to the letter written by the Community Development Association to him on the pathetic situation of power supply in the areas, which has affected both the economy of the people and their lifestyles for a long time.

According to Senator Kola Balogun; "In the letter signed by the Chairman, Engineer Rasaq Fabayo and Alhaji Ajadi Oladeji, the series to letters and dialogue with the IBEDC Management about the marginalization of the communities in terms of poor electricity supply proved abortive as nothing has been done concerning the complaints till date. I have taken it upon myself to see to the alleviation of these challenges by following up with the Transmission Company of Nigeria and other relevant agencies of government to put an end this nightmare"

Apete, Awotan, Akufo, Ajibode and environs are majorly youthful communities and by implications, their productivities and lifestyles have been grievously affected by this pathetic power failure. I assure our people that respite shall soon come and we shall all laugh last.

“I’m seriously traumatised by the experience,” the lawmaker said.

“We were coming from Edo state, somewhere between Okene and Lokoja, when we met these suspected bandits. They opened fire on my convoy. The gallant policemen had to immediately return fire.

One of them was critically injured. We had to immediately rush them to the Federal Medical Centre in Lokoja, Kogi state.

Makinde's 2Yrs In Office Far Better Than Your Wasteful 8Yrs - Oyo PDP Throw Blows At APC | Southwest-frontier News

OYO APC AND ITS SHAMELESS DANCE IN PUBLIC OVER BCOS IS LAUGHABLE, MAKINDE'S 2YRS FAR BETTER THAN YOUR ENTIRE 8YRS – OYO PDP FUMES

April 28, 2021

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Oyo state chapter, has described stories in some section of the media as being sponsored by the state chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) noting that,  continuous destructive criticism against Governor Seyi Makinde's laudable move to further modernize Ibadan by creating more beautiful GRAs in the state especially the moribund  Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS) Staff Quarters should readily be a welcome development by any individual, group or political party.

Oyo state PDP in a press statement made available to newsmen by its Publicity Secretary, Engr Akeem Olatunji on Wednesday 28th April, alleged Oyo APC of 'deceitfuly and maliciously' instigating BCOS workers against Government over  a move that is targeted at improving the modernity of Ibadan city at no detriment to neither BCOS nor its staffs.

The ruling party noted that the state Commissioner for Lands Barrister Abdul-Raheem Abdul-Rahman, during his last press briefing maintained that state government will construct two modern Government Residential Areas (GRAs) which will meet the test of time out of the moribund expanse of lands behind BCOS for the purpose of providing beautiful and affordable housing for it's growing population as well as shoring up its revenue base.

Oyo PDP explained that there was no parameter or basis of comparing the Almost two years Seyi Makinde led PDP government with APC entire eight years describing the last administration as the "greatest mistake" collectively made by the people of the state who realizing that dethroned APC government in 2019.

"For the sake of record, It was half salaries for 8 years under the immediate past APC government with less than 40m spent and generators were being borrowed to power the stations unlike the Seyi Makinde led PDP administration which has approved and spent over N100 million on the effective management of BCOS in less than 2 years. Furthermore, the entire investment of APC government in BCOS between 2011–2019 are minor upgrade of TV Broadcast Facility in 2011, relocation of BCOS staff clinic in 2014, relocation of Oluyole FM station to Bashorun from old Ife road in February 2019, and procurement of 400KVA and 80KVA power Generator at Bashorun and Ajilete FM, Ogbomoso.

"Despite this very poor attention to the corporation, the APC government illegally sack many of the staff while over 200 staff members including respectable veterans in the broadcast profession were redeployed to ministries and parastatals where their professional expertise are absolutely underutilized. All have been recalled by Prince Dotun Oyelade Management team put in place by the Governor Seyi Makinde led PDP government.
"The Seyi Makinde led PDP government in less than two years in office has installed world class Digital Audio Satellite System for Hi-Fidelity crystal clear and seamless broadcast across all BCOS stations in all the zones of Oyo state.

"Beautification of BCOS and its environment, upgrade of broadcast facilities to world class at the ICT Division of Engineering Department for audio and video conferencing from all over the world. Reabsorption of illegally sacked management staffs.

"Establishment of TV Microwave Links System between the corporation and Agodi Earth Station of Star FM for improved quality of TV signal on Star Times DTT bouquet. Live streaming of BCOS channels on website (www.bcos.tv/live) and mobile App (BCOS TV).

"Others are installation and commissioning of new 5KW Radio FM Transmitter at Ajilete FM Tx Station, Ogbomoso. Upgrading and transformation of BCOS staff canteen to a Club House.

"24hr extended TV transmission, renovation of Oke-Ogun FM Live studio, procurements of 250KVA power Generator at old Ife road, 135KVA power Generator at Bashorun Headquarters, 65KVA power Generator at Alaga FM station, Ogbomoso.

"Backup Spares for transmission equipment, prompt release of funds for contents production, installation of Earth Station for Satellite TV Uplink as well as prompt payment of staffs salaries and other benefits among other core investment in the station too many to itemize.

"We urge all citizens and residents of the state to completely ignore the Oyo APC for further attempting to insult our collective sensibility in such a shameless manner thinking the people have forgotten so quickly how they were subjected to modern day slavery for eight uninterrupted years under their draconian rule. For the sake of emphasis, APC which is sinonymous to Biblical hellfire, is dead and gone for good in Oyo state."

BUHARI BOWS TO PRESSURE, BEGS BIDEN TO HELP NIGERIA WITH SOLDIERS

April 27, 2021

President Muhammadu Buhari has bowed to pressure, begged President Biden to send US soldiers to help Nigeria’s insecurity.

Buhari on Tuesday urged the United States to reconsider relocating US Africa Command (AFRICOM) from Stuttgart, Germany, to Africa, nearer the Theatre of Operation, admonishing the international community to support Nigeria and the sub-region in tackling growing security challenges to avoid spillovers.

Mouthpiece NGR reports that President Buhari’s plea was contained in a statement issued on Tuesday by Femi Adesina, the Special Adviser to the President on Media & Publicity.

The statement quoted President Buhari to have said “in a virtual meeting with the US Secretary of State, Mr. Anthony Blinken, said AFRICOM, which partners with countries to counter transnational threats, should be relocated to Africa to strengthen ongoing efforts to check the security situation, with likely effect on other nations.

"The security challenges in Nigeria remain of great concern to us and impacted more negatively, by existing complex negative pressures in the Sahel, Central and West Africa, as well as the Lake Chad Region.

“Compounded as the situation remains, Nigeria and her security forces remain resolutely committed to containing them and addressing their root causes. The support of important and strategic partners like United States cannot be overstated as the consequences of insecurity will affect all nations hence the imperative for concerted cooperation and collaboration of all nations to overcome these challenges.

“In this connection, and considering the growing security challenges in West and Central Africa, Gulf of Guinea, Lake Chad region and the Sahel, weighing heavily on Africa, it underscores the need for the United States to consider re-locating AFRICOM Headquarters from Stuttgart, Germany to Africa and near the Theatre of Operation,’’ he said.

“The President said Nigeria will enhance collaborations in all forms, with friends and strategic partners, to work together for greater security for all, which remain the most significant condition for overcoming the existential challenges

Security: Our Administration Will Continue To Work With Police & Other Security Agencies - Makinde | Southwest-frontier News

MAKINDE PROMISES TO WORK WITH SECURITY AGENCIES TO SECURE OYO

April 27, 2021
Governor ‘Seyi Makinde has said that his administration will continue to work with the Nigeria Police and other security agencies to improve security in Oyo state.

The Governor stated this on Tuesday while hosting the new Assistant Inspector General of Police, AIG, in charge of Zone XI, Osogbo, AIG Olasupo Ajani, at his Secretariat office in Ibadan. He also assured everyone present of continuous support for the Police from his administration by providing the necessary support and logistics.

In a press release signed by the Governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, the governor was quoted as saying: “Oyo State has been a little bit peaceful but we have serious challenges, security-wise, in the entire country.

“Also, at this time, we are faced with economic issues. So, if you have to do your work in the face of those challenges, it is almost like being hit twice because the work itself is difficult. When you have an atmosphere of economic prosperity, the people are not agitated but, now, any small thing, people are tensed up.”

“Anytime I’m on the road, I witness road rage, aggression and all of that. These are not really normal because, for us, we used to be our brothers’ keepers. But a lot of people are tensed up and before you know what is going on, aggression is transferred. And when you now have to carry out your policing work within the context of these events, it becomes extremely difficult. So, we will continue to support you, show understanding and work with you through this challenging period.”

The governor also praised the Zonal Team and the Osun State Command of the Nigeria Police for maintaining the peace at the last PDP zonal congress, which, in his opinion, he called “the most peaceful zonal congress for PDP in the entire country.”

He added: “I want to take this opportunity to, first of all, say thank you to the team from Osogbo; the Zonal Team and Osun State Command of the Nigeria Police. I was there for our zonal congress. Yes, it was quite challenging, because before the congress itself, the gist was that there will be bloodshed and everybody became apprehensive. But the Zone and the Osun Command took complete charge and maintained a peaceful atmosphere for us and that made the congress to be adjudged the most peaceful zonal congress for PDP in the entire country. So, I take this opportunity to say thank you to the team.”

The governor also commended the Oyo State Commissioner of Police, CP Ngozi Onedeko for the work the Oyo State police has put in, under her command, to make lives and property in Oyo State safe. He also his administration’s support for the Nigerian police.

“For us in Oyo State, we are appreciative of the work that the Commissioner of Police is doing here. We operate like the same family. And everyone in my team here has shown commitment to work effectively.

“Initially, during the EndSARS protest, some said that I don’t like the Police but that is far from the truth because when it comes to internal security in this country, we don’t have alternative. So, we will continue to work together. For the Zone also, I will work with the officers and men.” he added.

He also promised the police that his administration would continue to prioritize the welfare of their men in the state and by extension, Zone XI Command.

“I am available every time. Do not hesitate to call me when you need our help. For us, we are not sparing any effort to keep our people safe and secure and we know that when you don’t have a lot to spend because of the economic situation, it is difficult to think of how to take care of the welfare of the people. But I can assure that we will still prioritize the welfare of the officers and men of the Police Force working with us. We will also extend to the zone every now and then.”

“So, I want to wish you a successful tenure of office and I also pray you will go higher and higher,” Makinde stated.
The new AIG, Olasupo Ajani, said the reason he was visiting Governor ‘Seyi Makinde was so that he could formally inform him of his arrival as the head of Zone XI, and also to show his appreciation for the support he has always shown the Nigerian Police.

In his words: “I am here his morning to formally inform you of my arrival and to thank you immensely for your help and support for the Police in Oyo State, most especially to my sister, the CP. We have spoken about everything you have been doing for the Police.”

“I was also told that even yesterday, you donated another 6 Hilux Vehicles for patrol. We thank you very much and we hope you will continue to support us.”

“I want to also solicit for your collaboration in all our areas of need. On a more serious note, Police would not succeed without the will of the people. So, in this light, we want you to help us sensitize the people to support the Police. There must be cooperation between them.”
The AIG also promised that he and his men would work together with the people of Oyo State to properly secure the region and added that this was in line with the policing strategy of the Acting IGP,Alkali Baba Usman.

In his words: “On our plans to nip the issue of insecurity in the bud, we only need to increase intelligence gathering. Without intelligence, we won’t be able to get these people. So, we need the support of the people; when they hear something, they must say something. As soon as we hear what they are ready to say, we also will do something.”

Other dignitaries present at the occasion were the Secretary to the State Government, Mrs. Olubamiwo Adeosun; Chief of Staff to the Governor, Chief Bisi Ilaka; Special Adviser on Security and Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni (rtd); Executive Assistant on Security, CP Sunday Odukoya (rtd); the Commander of Oyo State Security Network Agency, Amotekun, Colonel Olayinka Olayanju (rtd); and the Director-General of ‘Operation Burst,’ Col. The arrests came after a lady petitioned Ogun state police command.

According to a source, Olu kemta, an Oba without a wife or a child, specialises in defrauding his unsuspecting victims mostly wealthy ladies via social media through Facebook and Instagram with a promise of marriage.

“He is also Fond of taking photographs with influential people and beautiful places to promote his ambitions on his Instagram and Facebook pages” one of the victims said

Our correspondent learnt that several petitions had been submitted to the Ogun state traditional institution by some of his victims but were ignored

Oba Tejuoso always look for wealthy ladies through their online profiles and photographs to determine his approach.

It is sad to discover that the sacred traditional institution has become the final bus stop for fraudulent people because of lack of integrity checks and balances by the government and tradition council before approval is given

BCOS QUARTERS: Stop Advertising Your Ignorance, Makinde's Aide Tackles Apc | Southwest-frontier News

BCOS Quarters: STOP ADVERTISING YOUR IGNORANCE, MAKINDE'S AIDE TACKLES APC

April 24, 2021
...says gov has rebuilt public trust in government

The Oyo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has been cautioned against demonstrating insensitivity and crass ignorance on matters of the state in the name of trying to play opposition politics.
Chief Press Secretary to Governor 'Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, Mr. Taiwo Adisa, who gave this warning in a statement on Saturday, described APC's intervention on  the planned conversion of an expanse of land and parts of the Staff Quarters of the BCOS to a Government Residential Area (GRA) as needless, uninformed, half-baked and irresponsible.
Adisa wondered why the APC has taken sudden interest in the BCOS staff members, some of whom he said the immediate past APC government in the state sacked or retired prematurely, and nearly killed with unpaid salaries and pensions as well as sundry wicked policies which left them dehumanised.
He stated that the series of undeserved retrenchment  and unkind policies inflicted on BCOS staff during the eight years of the APC in Oyo clearly point to the fact that the crocodile tears the party is shedding on behalf of the staff currently is playing to the gallery.
The governor's aide stated that the APC should simply have sought information before dabbling in a matter it knew so little about.
He added that the Makinde-led administration has the best interest of workers and residents of the state at heart and that it would not implement any policy that will not add value to the state.
He also noted that the planned conversion of the landed property in Basorun to a GRA is intended to further develop Ibadan, reduce the Housing deficit in the state capital and improve the internally-generated revenue of the state.
According to Adisa, the controversy had long been laid to rest between the Management of BCOS and the developer, adding that the welfare of the occupants of the staff Quarters has been fully taken care of.
He reminded the APC that the BCOS Quarters and the expanse of land belong to the government, adding that it was needless generating controversy on the planned conversion to a GRA.
He noted, however, that contrary to the misinformation being peddled by the APC and its loudspeakers, the buildings being currently inhabited by 36 BCOS staffers, have not been demolished.
Adisa maintained that agents of falsehood and fake news were behind the rumour that the government demolished the quarters without prior notice to residents.
He stated that a number of the buildings in the Quarters are unoccupied, adding that the demolished structure was dilapidated and empty.
"Of course, no reasonable government will demolish a building  that is fully occupied," Adisa stated.
He added that the developer has already  agreed to provide a financial palliative to the 36 residents of the Quarters, while also giving them a period of grace to enable them to get alternative  accommodation.
He said that the Chairman of the BCOS, Prince Dotun Oyelade, the developers and representatives of the Staff Quarters had met to iron out the matter.
Adisa noted that the developer has conceded that the BCOS Mosque, the Chapel, the Pensioners' House and one other building would be left untouched, while the government is also pushing for other measures that will ensure that the interest of BCOS staffers is taken care of in the long term.
Adisa further stated that the growing interest of developers and investors in Oyo State has shown that Governor Makinde has succeeded in rebuilding public trust in the state and that no amount of misguided statements from the APC would succeed in inciting the public against the governor.
He warned that APC's desperation to gain public sympathy after mismanaging the resources of the state and taking the people for granted for eight years would always fail, warning the party to learn how to play opposition politics responsibly.
The statement read: “One read with amusement the error-laden, misguided statement of the Oyo State APC on the needless controversy surrounding the conversion of the BCOS Staff Quarters to a GRA. It is funny how APC leaders, after mismanaging Oyo State for eight years and destroying public trust, can seek to turn around to become advocates for the institution they reduced to its lowest ebb.
"While one will like to advise the APC to learn to play opposition politics responsibly, the party should stop disgracing itself by coming up with incoherent thoughts and misdirected positions that easily belie their renewed interest in the welfare of Oyo State people, whom they dehumanised with several inhuman policies for eight years.
"The APC should have sought information and get clear perspectives of the development at the BCOS before alleging that the government failed to complete whatever it intended to build and relocate the families living in the BCOS Staff Quarters before it is demolished, because as of now, the buildings under occupation at BCOS  have not been demolished.
"It was, however, good that the Oyo APC could not disguise its main intention, which is to further advance its hatred against the Makinde administration.
"Coming up to accuse the administration of policy somersault sold the party out as still smarting from the unexpected loss it suffered at the polls in 2019.
"We sympathise with APC over its loss and wish that it would move on and learn how to play opposition politics responsibly, because the party will have to be contended with that role for a long time, as Nigerians and residents of Oyo State cannot afford to continue with the untold hardship brought upon the country by the APC leadership.
"Sadly, Oyo APC has been over-reaching itself talking about 2023 when it is obvious that it is already on a lost cause, as the government of Engineer Makinde has redefined governance and has been endearing itself  to the people with focused leadership and sound policies that deliver maximum value to the people of the state."

LG POLLS: Oyo Govt Approves N279.5m For Production Of Ballot Papers | Southwest-frontier News

LG POLLS: OYO GOVT APPROVES N279.5M FOR PRODUCTION OF BALLOT PAPERS...

Approves N1.2bn For Construction Of New Governor’s Lodge, Abuja
...To Open Two Modern Gras For Oyo Residents

April 21, 2021
The Oyo State Executive Council has approved the sum of N279.2 million for the production of ballot papers to be used for forthcoming local government election.
The Oyo State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr.Wasiu Olatunbosun, who disclosed this while briefing journalists on the outcome of the 9th executive council meeting of year 2021, also stated that the production is directly awarded to the Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Company, NSPMC.
He said the government did this to show its seriousness and commitment towards conducting free and fair local government election.
He said: "The Council approved the production of ballot papers to be used for the forthcoming local government election, which is scheduled to hold on May 15, 2021. And the production is directly awarded to Nigerian Security Printing and Minting Company.
"We did this to show how serious and transparent we are and how prepared this administration is towards the forthcoming election. We are giving the contract for the production out to a reputable printing company known for printing of security materials.
"In the past elections in the state, they made use of the government printing press, but, this time around, we want a third party to handle this sensitive material so that nobody will have access to the ballot papers."
Also, the council approved the construction of a new Oyo State Governor’s Lodge at No 2, John Kadiya Close, Abuja, through alternative project funding approach (APFA) at the cost of N1,201,760,000.
The Commissioner for Public Works and Infrastructure, Prof. Kehinde Sangodoyin, who stated this while addressing newsmen on the outcome of the executive council meeting, added that the project will be completed in the next six months.
The commissioner stated that the lodge will have the Governor’s Lodge, Deputy Governor’s Lodge, some chalets, fittings and some furniture, which he said will be of modern type, adding that this is part of what the present administration will leave behind as legacy.
“The executive council has approved the construction of the new Governor’s Lodge at No 2. John Kadiya Close, Abuja, which is under APFA.
“The lodge has been there for a while and our government noticed the dilapidated condition. The new lodge will have the Governor’s Lodge, Deputy Governor’s Lodge, some chalets, fittings and some furniture, which will be of modern type. This is part of what the administration will leave behind.
“The edifice will cost the government of Oyo State the sum of N1,201,760,000 only. Once the construction has been awarded, the duration for the completion of the project is just six months. So, it is believed that six months after the award of the contract, the project will be completed and it will have the facilities I have mentioned earlier.”
Similarly, the Commissioner for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Barr. Abiodun Abdu-Raheem, said the council approved the construction of two modern Government Reserved Areas for residents of Oyo State, adding that new GRAs will be well-packaged so that they can meet the test of time.
He said the two GRAs are the late Lere Adigun GRA, which is behind the Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State (BCOS) and the other one is named after Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, which is along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway.
“Furthermore, we have two GRAs that we have packaged in a way that shows a new narrative that is different from what we are used to.
"You know that the GRAs we have in Ibadan don’t have the infrastructure but the new ones we are bringing on board are well-packaged and they can meet the test of time.
"The GRAs on the ground now are late Lere Adigun GRA, which is behind BCOS, and the other one is named after Senator Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, which is along the Lagos-Ibadan expressway. We have been welcoming applications on these GRAs.”
He also used the medium to explain the activities of the ministry and some products available for the benefit of the people of Oyo State
"This afternoon, we showcased the products of the Ministry in a very symbolic way and that is why we made a request that all members of the exco, including the governor, should dorn our customised shirts, which indicate that we are working for the state.
"We are with the good people of Oyo State, which is a sort of obligation on our part that, within a certain period of time, we are going to make some products available for the benefit of the people of Oyo State."
He said that the ministry is vigorously marketing the payment of Land Use Charge, 60 days C of O and collection of land and property titles.
"We are using members of the Executive as a point of contact to the people with regards to our activities. We noticed that before the inception of this government, the trust index has been very low but we thank God that with the activities of the present government and other laudable programmes that this government is coming up with, the trust index has improved and we want to leverage on that to sell our products to the people."

Opinion: Omituntun Retrospection - By Deji Ola | Southwest-frontier News

OMITUNTUN RETROSPECTION

April 20, 2021
I totally agree with Bill Keane who once said : _Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery, today is a gift of God, which is why we call it the present._

It's however pertinent to always revisit our past activities in order to make best out of it while setting the record straight for greater opportunity ahead.

Today 20th April, 2021, I desire to retrospectively refresh our memory about pre and post events in 2011 and how Omituntun mantra awake the sleeping giant in Oyo State PDP members.

Though I know little but the little I know is enough to charge those who know much to either  help me with wonderful rejoinder or scold me for not including some historic events.

In 2011, despite all our efforts to ensure that the party came out with flying colors, we were defeated due to our inability to maintain internal crisis which resulted in anti-party and in turn made the major opposition party came out victorious. If wishes were horses, I would use my power to bring peace to the then PDP and caution the bigwigs who fought from start to the eve of 2011 general election hile placing premium on party supremacy. It has become history but there are many lessons to learn from it.

Is it not too early to forget the calamity which our last defeat inflicted on our party? Many members were left frustrated, some House of Representatives, House of Assembly and  Red Chamber candidates travelled out of the country to reunite with their family and loved ones, others who stayed back in the country neglected our dying party.

For many years, no much activities in the party, no motivations, no incentives. Nothing, I mean absolutely nothing. Those who have genuine interest in the party remain resolute, dedicated and continued to carry out various party activities to keep it agile.

Joyfully, on that Thursday morning in December 2012. On my way to Masjid to observe solat subuh, I stumbled at- a soul lifting Posters!
The first thing that popped up in my mind is: "this ruling party has come again" thinking that it was the work of ACN. I have to summon courage and double check; guess what, I saw our party logo beautifully designed with picture of whale-shark swimming in the sea. My anxiety increased initially just to see who sponsored it knowing fully well that it was not yet electioneering period.

During this period, my instinct was asking this question: who else can sponsor this except immediate past Governor? Disappointedly, I did not see any name in the poster never was I able to finalize who is behind the scene. I can only see *OMITUNTUN ti ru*

It was then I now relate the inscription with the whale-shark which represented fish, sea which represented water and the water wave which indicated that a new fish was introduced to sea.

I couldn't help my self but to take it as a point of duty to investigate who was behind these posters. I tried this for several months but nobody could avail me any perfect answer free from guess work. The poster pasting exercise was throughly done without any traces to the idealist and it was pasted through out the state. Directly or indirectly, the hope was rebuilt, zeal renewed and sleeping giant woke up.

Later around 2013, I got to know who is behind the _Omituntun mantra_. I accidentally witnessed scores of Oyo state students receiving  bursary allowances and the slogan they were chanting was _Omituntun_. Yes it was _Omituntun_ and the brain behind this is a man I cherish so much.

For real, Warren G. Bennie was right with his assertion that: _"Leadership is ability to translate vision into reality"_

GSM was able to convert his _Omituntun_ idea into reality through perseverance and sincerity of purpose. Here we are enjoying and basking in euphoria of joy.

Lessons have been learnt, the bad, the ugly and the good part of the process is known to some individuals. It has become a success story and the initiative is now a movement which will no doubt produce many leaders in the future.

Now is the time to join the moving train

Custom Officers Who Invaded Bodija Merket Will Not Go Unpunished, Kola Balogun Assured Traders | Southwest-frontier News

SENATE SHALL PROBE RECENT CUSTOMS' INVASION OF BODIJA MARKET

April 20, 2021
The Senator representing Oyo South District Dr Mohammed Kola Balogun has assured his constituents that the wrongful invasion by the men of the Customs has gotten the attention of the Senate and the appropriate Committee has been asked to investigate the invasion.

According to the press release by the Special Adviser on Media, the Senate, on Tuesday, mandated the Committee on Ethics, Privileges and Public Petitions headed by Senator Ayo Akinselure to investigate the alleged invasion of Rice Traders’ shops by men of the Nigerian Customs that resulted in the carting away of goods to the tune of N85 million naira. This was in response to receipt of a petition from the Ibadan Foodstuff Sellers Association addressed to the Senate President through Senator Kola Balogun representing Oyo South Senatorial District.
If you can remember, Senator Kola Balogun promised to move the Senate to stop such illegalities when he was asked on a live radio interview about his opinion of such Custom invasion of the popular market.
The Ibadan Foodstuff Sellers Association, in the petition said; “the unfortunate night invasion of the Bodija International Market, Ibadan and the forceful breakage of the Rice traders’ shops by men of the Nigerian Customs, Ikeja Unit, Lagos on 31st March through 1st April, 2021. Our shops and warehouses were forcefully opened in our absence and the following items were carted away: 3,046 bags of Rice at N26,000 per bag – N79,196,000; 14 (Nos) 25kg Vegetable Oil; Cash of N4,862,000.00; and One (Nos) 15kg Bag of Gari. It is pertinent to report to you, Sir, that five (5 nos) shops still remain under special white padlock, the same that were put on the forcefully broken ones"

According to Senator Kola Balogun; " As much as we would not hinder any law enforcement agency from carrying out their duties, it is pertinent to reiterate that this must be done strictly within the ambit of the law. We must all rise to condemn what is wrong, particularly as done by these overzealous men of the Nigerian Customs. These hardworking traders must not be discouraged or hindered from their lawful trades.

Effects Of Masturbation | Southwest-frontier News

EFFECTS OF MASTURBATION

Dele and Shayo (not real names) have been married for a few years. Shayo is a housewife, taking care of the kids, while Dele goes to work every day. Dele came back from work one fine evening, expecting to get “something light” from his wife after dinner, only for her to say “Dele I have already masturbated a few hours ago, so I am not really in the mood right now”.

This was the fifth time Shayo was telling him this in three weeks, so obviously she had replaced “Dele” with her “fingers,” using her newly purchased vibrator hidden away somewhere in the house. Dele was so angry at being deprived of his right. Being a Christian, he didn’t believe in cheating on his wife, and he didn’t want to be put in that situation so he wanted her to stop using that “evil” vibrator right away. Out of fear, she threw it away, but couldn’t overcome the urge soon and started using her fingers to please herself, Dele couldn’t take it anymore when he discovered and that was the beginning to the end.

This story is same or slightly different with many other experiences of couples in various homes. Some partners accept it because they feel it’s much better than “adultery”, while some see it as a slap on the face. The interesting part is men rarely talk about it amongst themselves. Women are more open in discussing it with each other, while couples don’t even want to mention it at all. Really interesting, isn’t it?

Couples should be open about their sexual wants and desires, as well as their dislikes. 85 % of men and 45 % of women who live with their spouses are said to have masturbated. Vibrators, sex machines, sex toys and even sex dolls are steadily replacing human contact and encouraging masturbation addiction. Many people would argue that this is more common with men, than women, well that is not our debate for today, but on how it affects both genders and its aftermath in a relationship. Masturbation is derived from a Latin word “manstuprare,” meaning “to defile one’s self by hand”.

Many couples I have counselled or spoken to say that masturbation is a very uncomfortable topic to broach. Imagine walking in on your partner masturbating? So many questions will be running through your head at once. Apart from immediately casting and binding the devil, there are several thoughts that rush through your mind, number one being who or what is my partner thinking about while at it? Some couples may wonder if masturbation can ruin their relationship. Other couples don’t even want to discuss it.

Masturbation often carries a stigma. Some religious, cultural and spiritual traditions associate masturbation with immorality or sin.

But the truth is masturbation can become an addiction which can cause harm to your relationship with several signals stated below.

When you get to a point where you inflict self-injury on yourself due to this habit, it can lead to other challenges in your relationship.

If your spouse uses masturbation to cope when they are under stress, especially when work pressure increases and next step is to quickly get a private place to “handle” themselves, then this is a big issue because apart from leading your partner to other stress management behaviour it can quickly escalate into a big problem, imagine having to get to the toilet anytime you are under duress.

This can create a feeling of rejection if one’s partner finds solace in masturbating rather than sexually connecting with their partner. If your partner finds it very easy to replace physical contact with you, even when you are available.

We operate in a religious environment. The weight of guilt that presents itself with this act, especially in connection to our religious and spiritual beliefs (if you have any) will lead to secrecy or in some cases creating and maintaining a double life around your sexual lifestyle.

One of the criteria for addictive behaviour is frequency of the act, sometimes partners who want to stop and are unable to do so, sometimes unconsciously increase after trying to make effort to stop due to the helpless feeling it gives.

Putting religion or cultural beliefs aside, it is an unhealthy habit with emphasis on the word habit, not only as an individual but for couples. Masturbation is very common among adults, yet it remains a challenging and uncomfortable topic

It causes feeling of inadequacy, especially when the partner discovers about it, they tend to blame themselves, assuming that their spouse or partner is bored or unhappy with them. Masturbation is a problem that interferes with day-to-day life, especially when it is used to substitute real intimacy with another person.

Your partner may feel that his or her partner has been keeping secrets. What couples should understand is that couples have different viewpoints. People who masturbate may do so in different amounts. There is nothing like an acceptable number or not acceptable number. where we can establish you have a problem with masturbation is when you can’t achieve orgasm with your partner through intercourse, the best is to seek help from a therapist. They can work with you and your partner to iron out major concerns affecting your relationship, or smaller issues you are struggling with.

So many couples if they can be sincere struggle with masturbation. It all depends on if you feel you should tell your spouse that you masturbate. But you shouldn’t allow the feeling of inadequacy over take you if you discover your partner masturbates, as long as you can maintain a healthy relationship where both individuals communicate effectively to understand each other and know exactly when to come in. Adult individuals are entitled to their own thoughts, even what our society might deem repugnant. Basically what should be your priority which is my major rule for relationships is that all your sex, including fantasies, should be with each other.

Is it possible to stop masturbation, especially when it is affecting your relationship? I would say yes! Definitely, you can stop it.

Instead of trying to restrict your partner’s behaviour for instance because restriction with words like “you must stop this habit at once’ will only aggravate issues. It is a matter of discipline and acceptance to try and stop, once there is a will there is a way. If you desire to help your partner to stop, then the best method is to

Talk to them about the habit.
Find out what triggers it (for instance work pressure).
Ask them how you can help them stop it.
Give mental and moral support; don’t make them feel ashamed.
Try to turn their attention to something else, so that they get to use their time constructively.
Do it slowly, change cannot happen overnight.
Know when to seek professional help.
Learning to stop masturbating is a process and this process takes time. To overcome this behaviour you’ve practised for months and sometimes even years, you personally need several coping strategies in order to save your relationship and cause less damage to show them you really want to stop.

Keeping a full schedule will cut down on the opportunities you have for masturbation. Find activities that are self-soothing, engaging, or exciting. I personally recommend joining a gym, start running or jogging, exert yourself physically.

You will also need a healthy diet for your body, caring for yourself may reduce urges or provide motivation to resist. It can also provide a new focus for your energy and efforts. You also need to be accountable to someone you trust, if you can find a support group. That would be excellent and a right path to recovery. It can also help you develop new behaviour. You need to limit your lone time, wear extra clothes at night to cover everywhere as much as possible, make it difficult for the temptation to be successful. Stop everything that triggers the urge, like porn, sex magazines and so on, and most of all, be patient with yourself while healing yourself. Good luck!
