Busari Olayemi: A Leader Par Excellence - By Tella Oluyinka | Southwest-frontier News

There have been countless people through history that led people but were inhumane and destructive. Does that still make them leaders? In my mind, a leader is someone who does more than just lead people. They have to be driven by the right motivation and make a positive impact on the people around them.

A leader is someone who can see how things can be improved and who rallies people to move toward that better vision. Leaders can work towards making their vision a reality while putting people first. Just being able to motivate people isn’t enough — leaders need to be empathetic and connect with people to be successful. Leaders don’t have to come from the same background or follow the same path.

Future leaders will actually be more diverse, which brings a variety of perspectives. Of course, other people could disagree with my definition. The most important thing is that organizations are united internally with their definition of leadership.

The last Local government election in Oyo state shows the types of leaders in each local government in the state, up till now, there is still issues between some leaders in some local governments, to my surprise, Egbeda Local  government was unique, they have done proper consultation and agreed on who to go for each post, the internal democracy was second to none, they have align all their elective positions and settled all grievances without any noise irrespective of coalition with other parties.

My close relationship to the PDP leadership in Egbeda local government made me to understand that the brain behind the peaceful relationship that our party PDP is enjoying in Egbeda is the man called BUSARI OLAYEMI, God fearing, caring and always available for his people. I was told that he is a listening leader, he really understands the concept of political leadership, he carries along all political stakeholders in the local government before making any decision. He is a man of the people. No wonder the present chairman of Egbeda Local Government, my good Egbon Hon. Sikiru Oyedele Sanda emerges as Oyo state ALGON chairman and also the Deputy national chairman of ALGON within a short period, his choice by the leadership of PDP in Egbeda show that he is a round peg in round hole and the Leadership trait in him has earned him those positions.

I live in Egbeda local government for the past eight years and I can boldly say that the last time the people of the local government feel the effect of having a member of house of Representative was when Busari Olayemi was in the green chamber representing Egbeda/Ona Ara Federal constituency, up till today, all his constituency projects are still visible and serving its purposes. I met Hon. Busari Olayemi briefly at an event for the first time recently and my good friend, Hon Ibrahim Oladebo (Simple) introduced me to him. He is a simple person, easily accessible and he his arms are always open to welcome people. One of the thing that surprised my day was all political elected officers, party executives and appointees in that event stood up and followed him to his car when he was about leaving the event. The testimony of his people made me to write this piece, I was moved by all what his people were saying about his leadership style, from his Local government chairman, his state house of assembly member, the councilors and other political appointees.

In my political journey, the first true leader that have made positive impact in my life is Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke, and later few others, I worked in a multinational company for 12 good years and the company do invest so much in leadership training, I have undergo many Leadership trainings so when I see a real leader, I identify one easily. Most times I wish leadership in politics is structured, so that we can have a better environment and not just self acclaimed leaders, leaders by position, leaders without impacts, leaders without followers that are being recognized in our various political parties.
I pray the God should continue to bless Hon. Busari Olayemi, I wish him all the best in life, He should please continue what he is doing that is making his people to love him this much and people keep  testifying to his good deeds.
