OVERSIGHT FUNCTIONS IN MY DISTRICT (JAMB INSPECTION)
As member, Senate Committee on Education (Primary and Secondary), I visited few of the JAMB examination centers in my District this morning.
The tour started with visit to the Ibadan JAMB Office at Ikolaba because there are crowds at the gate and we needed to confirm how far they have gone with the conducts. We discovered a CBT center within and with capacity of 200 candidates per batch. Mr Sunday Alabi, head of the Technical unit was on ground to brief us about the day's task. I addressed the students under the canopy waiting for the next batch and the parents at the gate, outside the premises.
SUNSHINE GROUP OF SCHOOLS, OKE-BOLA
Our visit to this venue was timely as the second batch were just going into the hall. Madam Ngozi briefed my team of the procedure and conducts for the day. I addressed the parents and the students on the queue. At this venue, I entered and inspected the sitting arrangements and students in the hall.
ESTHER OSHIKOYA CBT CENTER, ELEYELE
This followed same pattern and procedure with the previous inspections but I also noticed fewer candidates compared to the others inspected earlier.
Eventually, we have seen 3 centers in three local governments and I am satisfied with the conducts though there's urgent need to increase the centers so that other candidates won't have to wait for so long before their turn.
Members of the Senate Committee are expected to go round as that is the only way we can confirm if truly the appropriation is justified and also have on-the-spot assessment of the operations of the Organization. Our duty ensures JAMB is executing the plans and how they can also improve to serve Nigerians better.
